The past year brought its share of challenges, including increased construction costs, a higher interest rate environment, and navigation through planning policies like NPF4. We met these challenges head-on by implementing value engineering, adopting a hands-on approach, and strategically holding onto assets. Our commitment to excellence, sustainability, and community development was the driving force behind our success in 2023.
King Street, Aberdeen
A standout accomplishment last year was the completion of Coop, King Street—a 6,000 sq ft retail store featuring a reclaimed granite façade and sustainable roofing materials. This transformation of a former car park into the Co-op Group’s newest convenience store in Aberdeen aligns with our commitment to sustainable inclusive spaces and is in line with the Scottish Government’s ’20-minute neighbourhoods’ ambitions, the site also has cycle spaces, is on a main bus route, and is an easy walk to and from students’ accommodation, Aberdeen University and ASV (Aberdeen Sports Village).
Celebrating the recent achievements in our diverse portfolio, West Coast Estates is delighted to share updates on several sites currently under contract.

The positive feedback received during a public drop-in session underscores the enthusiasm of the local community for this transformative project, promising not only practical benefits but also enriching the social fabric of the area.
Broxden, Perth

Phase 1, featuring SSE Superfast EV and Hydrogen sites, has received planning approval. Anticipating continued support for Phase 2 in early 2024, Broxden is poised to become a hub for work, dining, and recharging, contributing to the evolution of the local landscape. Joint Ventures and Deals
Additionally, we’ve successfully entered into joint ventures and secured deals, such as the comprehensive refurbishment of the 20,000 sq ft warehouse and yard on a 2-acre site at 1A Minto Drive—a Joint Venture with Energy Transition Zone (ETZ) showcasing net zero principles. Moreover, the leasing of 1.75 acres of yard space at 1C Minto Drive, Altens, to Enigma Industrial Services further solidifies our commitment to fostering collaborative and innovative projects.
